My 11yo son heard my husband talking about the Sunday Afternoon Smokes podcast. Being a super curious boy, he looked it up and started browsing through the episodes himself. He landed on the episode with Julian Loue, ownder of Rise Bakery, and listened to the entire episode; he LOVED it. And then he started BEGGING me to take him to Rise for one of those amazing Croissants he’d heard about. We homeschool, so I took him one morning to get a croissant to munch on while he worked on school. He wanted us to listen to the episode on the way... Hearing Julian speak unfiltered about his love for what he does and how he views his bakery’s place in the community just made our experience magical. We weren’t just visiting A bakery, we were visiting THAT bakery. And we had a list of things we wanted to try that we'd heard about on the podcast. Since that first visit, Rise Bakery has become a favorite place for us, and not just Rise, but so many of the other artisan shops nearby that Julian mentioned.
